in mind. We feel these companies are truely making steps to better the world
by first making their own business practices more sustainable. We have created
a criteria for the various industries that all of these companies met in some

Terrain
All Terrain creates natural products for outdoor lifestyles. This includes
insect repellants, soap and sanitizers, sun screen, and first aid products.
All Terrain only uses natural ingredients and does not test on animals.
They are dedicated to inspiring outdoor stewardship and donate to several
environmental groups, including the Access Fund, Leave No Trace, the American
Hiking Society, and several other organizations. All Terrain gave us sunblock, hand sanitizer, lotions, insect repellant, soaps, bandages, anti-septic medicine.

| Burt’s
Bees
Burt’s Bees is a cosmetics and body care products company that uses all-natural
ingredients. This means they do not include synthetic ingredients such
as petroleum, glycol, artificial dyes, colors, or preservatives. They
do not test on animals. Burt’s Bees also strives to make eco-friendly
packaging—most of it is made from recycled materials or has been developed
with re-use or recycling in mind. They give annual charitable contributions
to environmental groups. Burt’s Bees gave us shampoo and conditioner, soaps, body wash, sunblock, lotion, face creams, insect repellant, deodorant, lip balms, lip gloss, bug bite relief

| Dr.
Bronners
Dr. Bronner’s is an all-natural soap company that is socially conscious
and environmentally friendly. All of their soaps and essential oils are
certified USDA organic. All of their bottles are made from 100% post-consumer-recycled
plastic and their bar soap wrappers are 10% hempflax/90% post-consumer
recycled paper. Dr. Bronner’s is firmly against animal testing, which
is prevalent in the cosmetics industry. In the past five years Dr. Bronner’s
charitable giving has equaled one third of their total profits. This company
is also becoming fair-trade—95% of their resources originate from fair
trade sources. They aim to have 100% fair trade certified soaps by the
end of the 2007. Dr. Bronner’s gave us liquid hygiene soap, all-purpose cleaning soap, Gertrude Alpsnack bars.

Load Towels
Lightload towels are light, compact towels ideal for backpackers and travelers.
They are ultra-absorbent, able to soak up more than 9 times its weight
in water. They are so small they can fit in your pocket. Light Load towels
are also multi-purpose; they can be used as a fire starter, coffee filter,
and first-aid cloth. They are eco-friendly because they can be washed
and re-used, and they are biodegradable. Lightload Towels gave us compact, lightweight multi-use towels.

Recycline is a company that produces personal care items (razors, toothbrushes,
e.g.) and tableware out of recycled materials. They are committed to reducing
waste by creating products from recycled materials; their products have
a long product life; and they are recyclable. Recycline also uses recycled
materials in the packaging of their products. They are against animal
testing and support several environmental groups, in particular recycling
efforts. Recycline gave us razors, refill cartridges, toothbrushes, utensils, plates and cups.
