Each of these supporters were carefully selected beforehand with sustainability
in mind. We feel these companies are truely making steps to better the world
by first making their own business practices more sustainable. We have created

| Backpacker’s
Cache Bear Barrels
The Backpackers’ Cache Bear Resistant Food Container keeps your food and
the bears safe. Manufactured by Garcia Machine, a mom-and-pop independent
business run by Richard Garcia and his wife Beverly, they are designed
to slip into a camper’s backpack and will hold approximately 6 days of
food. According to research by the National Park System, bear barrels
have significantly reduced the amount of “nuisance bears,” who become
aggressive towards humans and have to be destroyed. In this way, bear
barrels have preserved bear populations in many national parks. The containers
are made out of ABS plastic which is recyclable, and all scrap in the
manufacturing process are recycled. Richard & Beverly Garcia support many
environmental groups such as the UINTAS Preservation Council, www.hupc.org
and are very active in the Sierra Club. Backpacker’s Cache gave us bear resistant food canisters. They work for composting, too!

| Jet
Boil
Jetboil® designs and manufactures innovative camp cooking products that
are lightweight and fuel efficient. Compared with traditional camp stoves,
which have 30-40% fuel efficiency, Jetboil more effectively absorbs heat
from the flame and has a 75-80% efficiency rate, which cuts down on fuel
consumption, cost, and emissions. Jetboil has many eco-friendly business
practices—recently they have switched from corrugated cardboard packaging
to post-consumer recycled paperboard. They are also eliminating PVC bags
from all packaging. Based in New Hampshire, Jetboil works with many local
New England suppliers to reduce transport costs and emissions, and continues
to support environmental education and conservation groups. Jetboil gave us cooking stoves, pots, pans, mugs and fuel canisters.
